Class AAA Boys

100 Meter Dash
Wheeling Park's Jerrae Hawkins took over about 20 meters in and was never threatened in taking the win in 10.54. That gives him the 2nd Best All-Time State Meet Performance and the 2nd Best All-Time Class AAA State Meet Performance. Jefferson's Keyshawn Robinson was solidly 2nd with a 10.81. Musselman's Jacob Sturba joined them under 11 seconds witha 10.95. Bridgeport's Lucas Anderson was 4th in 11.08. Musselman's Ray Adames was 5th in 11.17, and Parkersburg South's Zachary Parsons was 6th in 11.22.
RunWV's Current Score: 5 of 6.

200 Meter Dash
Jefferson's Keyshawn Robinson led out of the turn, but Wheeling Park's Jerrae Hawkins pulled even, and then pulled away in the last 30 meters to win it in 21.48. That gives him the 5th Best All-Time State Meet Performance and the 5th Best All-Time Class AAA State Meet Performance. Robinson took 2nd in 21.62, which gives him the 9th Best All-Time Class AAA State Meet Performance. With these two being Sophomore, we hopefully have a couple years of great races to look forward to. Jefferson's Isaiah Fritts was 3rd in 22.17. Bridgeport's Lucas Anderson took 4th in 22.32. Musselman's Ray Adames was 5th in 22.69, just ahead of Buckhannon-Upshur's Taiwo Thropp's 22.73.

400 Meter Dash
Buckhannon-Upshur's Sterlin Thropp led coming out of the turn, but it was Jefferson's Isaiah Fritts powering down the stretch to take the win in 49.33. Buckhannon-Upshur's Shawn Blandino closed well to take 2nd in 49.54 with Thropp taking 3rd in 49.69. Jefferson's Justin Gottlieb was 4th in 50.15. Spring Mills' Daniel Thorne was 5th in 50.55, and Martinsburg's Gavin Stenger took the final spot in 51.04.
RunWV's Current Score: 16 of 18.

800 Meter Run
Jefferson's Justin Gottlieb led a group of four through lap 1 in 59 seconds. He was trailed by Buckhannon-Upshur's Jordan Gillum, University's Josh Edwards, and Parkersburg's Franklin Angelos. I think it was Cabell Midland's Tristan Blatt and Cooper Gibson manning the next two spots at 1:01 with University's Brock Price there as well. On the backstretch of the 2nd lap, Gottlieb gave up the inside to Gillum who shot into the lead. Angelos tried to make a move, but Edwards countered. Gillum got the lead at about 580 meters. Gillum led into the turn, followed by Gottlieb, Edwards, and Angelos. In the turn, Edwards gets by Gottlieb. Coming into the homestretch, Gillum has a small gap, but Edwards is starting to close. Edwards makes the pass with about 40 meters to go and gets away for the win in 1:56.12. Gillum holds the 2nd spot in 1:56.76. Gottlieb takes 3rd in 1:57.18. Angelos gets in under 2:00 as well with a 1:59.17 for 4th. Gibson gets 5th in 2:00.15 with Blatt taking 6th in 2:01.05.
RunWV's Current Score: 21 of 24.

1600 Meter Run
Parkersburg's Franklin Angelos led the field through lap 1 in 1:03 with University's Rocco DeVincent also at 1:03. Hurricane's Nick Kennedy was in 3rd at 1:04, with that time matched by University's Josh Edwards in 4th, University's Drew Zundell in 5th, Hurricane's Ty Steorts in 6th, Hurricane's Aaron Kidd in 7th, and Cabell Midland's Tristan Blatt in 8th. At the end of two laps, Edwards had moved to the front, though barely, at 2:11. Kennedy was in 2nd, Angelos 3rd, and Kidd 4th, each also at 2:11. Devincent was in 5th at 2:12 with Zundell in 6th, Blatt in 7th, and Steorts in 8th, each also at 2:12. Now the racing began. Edwards took control and started to pull away, dropping the pace from a 1:08 second lap to a 1:02 third lap to come through in 3:13. Blatt had moved into 3rd at 3:15 with Kennedy in 4th at 3:16. Also at 3:16 were Devincent in 4th, Kidd in 5th, Zundell in 6th, and Angelos in 7th. Edwards closed with a 60 to finish in 4:13.30. That gives him the 6th Best All-Time State Meet Performance and the 6th Best All-Time Class AAA State Meet Performance. Kennedy won the close battle for 2nd in 4:16.99. Zundell came up to 3rd in 4:17.44. Blatt was 4th in 4:17.96. DeVincent was 5th in 4:19.56, and Angelos made a late pass on Kidd to get the 6th spot in 4:21.07 to Kidd's 4:21.32.

3200 Meter Run
University's Josh Edwards led the field through the 1st lap in 1:09. Hurricane's Aaron Kidd was in 2nd at 1:10. There were at least 4 others at 1:10, but the only one I could identify for sure was University's Rocco DeVincenter who was in 4th. After two laps, it was still Edwards with the narrow lead, coming through in 2:20. Kidd was in 2nd at 2:21 with DeVincent and University's Drew Zundell matching that time in 3rd and 4th, respectively. Hurricane's Ty Steorts was in 5th at 2:22 with Hurricane's Nick Kennedy and Parkersburg's Franklin Angelos matching that time in 6th and 7th, respectively. On lap 3, Edwards started to generate a gap, coming through in 3:28. The rest of the group all came through in 3:31 with Kidd in 2nd, DeVincent in 3rd, Zundell in 4th, Steorts in 5th, Angelos in 6th, and Kennedy in 7th. At the midway point, Edwards continued to extend his lead, coming through in 4:36. Kidd remained in 2nd at 4:41 with DeVincent matching that in 3rd. Zundell was in 4th at 4:42 with Steorts, Angelos, and Kennedy matching that time in the next three spots. Things looked exactly the same through lap 5, though it's possible that Kennedy may have made the pass on Angelos before the line. At the end of lap 6, the group had closed a little on Edwards with Edwards still in front at 6:57. Steorts had moved into 2nd at 7:00 with DeVincent and Zundell matching that time. Kidd was in 5th at 7:01. Angelos and Kennedy were still battling it out for 6th at 7:03 with Angelos holding a slight edge. At the end of lap 7, Edwards continued to lead at 8:02. Steorts remained in 2nd at 8:06. DeVincent was in 3rd at 8:07 with Zundell matching that in 4th. Those four had gotten away from the rest. Kidd was in 5th at 8:13. Kennedy was in 6th at 8:15, and Angelos was in 7th at 8:17. On the final lap, Edwards wasn't really threatened as he took the win in 9:07.75. That gives him the 4th Best All-Time State Meet Performance and the 3rd Best All-Time Class AAA State Meet Performance. Steorts got passed but fought back to take the 2nd spot in 9:12.89, which gives him the 10th Best All-Time State Meet Performance and the 8th Best All-Time Class AAA State Meet Performance. DeVincent held the 3rd spot in 9:14.77, which gives him the 10th Best All-Time Class AAA State Meet Performance. Zundell took 4th in 9:15.26. Kennedy moved up to the 5th spot in 9:21.91. Kidd held the 6th spot in 9:27.72.

Musselman's Cesar Zilleruelo edged out Parkersburg South's Jackson Dearth for 4th with both recording times of 16.00. Martinsburg's Dominic Brinkley was 6th in 16.05.

300 Meter Intermediate Hurdles
Huntington's Noah Waynick powered away from the field in the final 100 to win in 39.75. University's Colton Guthrie edged out Hedgesville's Gage Creel for 2nd, 40.15 to 40.19. Hedgesville's Kanye Smith closed really well to come back from a distant 8th to 4th in the final 100, finishing in 40.37. Morgantown's Alex Tadros took the 5th spot in 40.68 with Jefferson's Chase Brown getting 6th in 40.81. A special mention to South Charleston's Reese Jarell. In Heat 1, he was flying. He was through 200 meters a full second faster than anyone in Heat 2. But he stumbled over the first hurdle out of the turn. He didn't fall but lost all momentum. He still won the Heat, but wasn't able to place.
RunWV's Current Score: 43 of 48.

4x100 Meter Relay
Jefferson broke open a close race on the anchor leg of Keyshwan Robinson to give the unit of Caleb Shelton, Isaiah Fritts, Spencer Powell, and Keyshawn Robinson the win in 42.52. That gives them the 4th Best All-Time State Meet Performance and the 4th Best All-Time Class AAA Stae Meet Performance. Musselman just missed cracking that top 10 list with a very strong 42.79. Wheeling Park moved from 5th/6th up to 3rd on the anchor leg of Jerrae Hawkins, taking the spot in 43.29. Martinsburg was 4th in 43.41. 4x200 Meter Relay
The Jefferson squad of Caleb Shelton, Keyshawn Robinson, Spencer Powell, and Isaiah Fritts dominated the field and took down a 35 year old record. Their time of 1:27.80 stands as the new Class AAA State Meet Record, the Best All-Time State Meet Performance, and the Best All-Time Class AAA State Meet Performance. Musselman was a strong 2nd in 1:29.53. Buckhannon-Upshur joined them under 1:30 with a 1:29.95 for 3rd. Huntington was 4th in 1:30.91. Parkersburg South dominated the 1st Heat to snag 5th in 1:31.67. RunWV's Current Score: 52 of 60.

Due to glitches in the video, notes are sketchy. It appears that Hedgesville had the lead through leg 1 with Jefferson in 2nd, Ripley in 3rd, Buckhannon-Upshur in 4th, Martinsburg in 5th, and Morgantown in 6th. On leg 2, Buckhannon-Upshur moved to the front. Jefferson was in 2nd. Hedgesville was in 3rd, Martinsburg was in 4th, Morgantown was in 5th, and University was in 6th at 1:48.
